The photo above is of the artist Richard Diebenkorn and Kathan Brown the founder of Crown Point Press.  Kathan's book Ink Paper Metal Wood is both a teaching text on intaglio and a chronicle of artists who paused their painting to learn the process of printmaking at Crown Point Press.

Hard ground on copper plates etched in an acid solution and printed on wet rag paper. 

This is a multi layered process described as
​working in the dark backwards.

Traditional Paper for woodblock is from the inner bark of the Mulberry tree.  The wood blocks were traditionally carved from cherry tree wood.

Intalgio and Etching paper is cotton linen rag paper.
